Since signing with the New York Giants, RB Devin Singletary has struggled to make a significant impact. He has rushed for 250 yards on 63 carries with two touchdowns during six games of action. The former Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans RB has taken a back seat to 2024 fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr this season.
Injuries are horrible for everyone, but someone has to benefit on the field, and that is Singletary. Tracy suffered a concussion during yesterday’s Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tracy had 145 rushing yards with one touchdown against the Steelers. He has had a promising rookie season, averaging 5.2 yards per carry with 376 rushing yards. Although the Giants are struggling, Singletary will see increased opportunities against the Washington Commanders this week.
During the season’s first two weeks, Singletary scored at least 14 PPR fantasy points. But since then, he hasn’t reached double digits. Singletary had four total touches on Monday Night Football. He had two rushing attempts for 11 yards and two catches for 12 yards.
At 27 years old, Singletary still has talent and has been awaiting an opportunity. It appears as if he will become the Giants’ new starting RB next week. As a featured back, he totaled over 1,000 yards during the previous three seasons. Also, it is good news that the Giants are playing two of the NFL’s bottom 10 rush defenses. The Commanders have allowed the seventh most rush yards, while the Carolina Panthers have given up the most.
If Singletary can return to that 10-carry mark where he was during the first month of the season, he will be an excellent addition to fantasy rosters. The Giants are +3.5 against the Commanders on DraftKings Sportsbook.
