Pelicans vs. Warriors Best Bets with Stephen Curry injured

New Orleans Pelicans ML (-125) at Golden State Warriors

I actually laid 2.5 points on the overnight line, and despite over 90% of the money coming in on New Orleans, the number is now short enough you can probably just play the moneyline. I’m not scared off of the reverse line movement, as I think this is both a good spot for the Pelicans and a difficult spot for the Warriors.

The Pelicans just split a pair of games in Portland, and are coming off a bad loss on Sunday. That sets up a nice bounce-back spot here for a Pelicans frontcourt that has a lot of size — the perfect way to expose the Warriors. Meanwhile, this will be Golden State’s first game without Stephen Curry. Steph injured his ankle in the loss to the Clippers over the weekend, and will miss at least two games before being reevaluated.

This is just a completely different team without Curry, as the Warriors will have to find a way to replace all of his ball handling and scoring duties. It just makes Golden State much easier to defend, and gives the Pelicans a better chance to make their size advantage matter. A versatile wing in Andrew Wiggins is also listed as questionable for this one with back issues, following 29 points against the Clippers.

If Wiggins is forced to miss this one, not only does that help the Pelicans’ chances, but we also have to start considering some props on the Golden State side. Props for the Warriors are currently off the board at DraftKings due to the injury report, so I can’t write up any specific plays. But Brandin Podziemski is a player I’d keep my eye on backing in this game once they become available.
