Mookie Betts has flown a little under the radar in the World Series. With so many people focused on Shohei Ohtani’s injury, or Aaron Judge’s struggles at the plate, or Freddie Freeman’s heroics, there hasn’t been much bandwidth left over for the former AL MVP, who has admittedly had a pretty quiet few performances.
Well, if he hits the over on this prop, it isn’t exactly going to turn heads, either. Heck, it might be the most boring prop on the board over at the DraftKings Sportsbook. Excited? You should be. Let’s dive in.

Mookie Betts Over 0.5 Walks (+110)
There are so many reasons to believe that Betts will draw a free pass in Game 4. Let’s begin with the most obvious: Luis Gil. Few pitchers are as wild as the Yankees’ rookie. In fact, of all the pitchers to throw at least 150 innings during the regular season, Gil’s 12.1% walk rate was the highest in the league. Gil walked multiple batters in 22 of his 29 starts in 2024 and then walked three opponents in four innings in his lone start of the ALCS. The man simply does not know where the ball is going when it leaves his hand.
Yet that begs the question of Betts’ specific involvement in this prop. Why not go with another player? To be honest, my first inclination was to find Max Muncy’s line, but the book was on top of that, and the 34-year-old is -160 to draw at least one walk this evening. However, Betts has his advantages. For one, he’s hitting closer to the top of the Dodgers’ lineup and therefore has a better chance of facing off with Gil multiple times in Game 4. He’s also hitting between to dangerous left-handed batters in Ohtani and Freeman. If New York was to turn to a left-handed reliever later in the contest, there’s a chance they’d pitch around Betts — as we saw in Game 1.
It’s not like Mookie doesn’t take his walks, either. During the regular season, Betts sat in the 93rd percentile in chase rate (21.1%) and the 92nd percentile in walk rate (11.8%). His walk rate has jumped to 15.2% in his 66 postseason plate appearances and he’s drawn at least one walk in seven of his last nine games.
