Jayson Tatum looks to have fixed the hitch in his jumper, and it’s paid dividends so far in this young campaign. The shot is much more lively out of his hand, resulting in him having more success from downtown. He’s looked more comfortable going to the basket and finishing through contact. Tatum looks like a more mature scorer, ready to enter the prime of his career.
Last year, Tatum scored 30+ points against Indiana in the four regular-season meetings. He’s a matchup nightmare for a team sorely lacking defense on the perimeter. Teasing the line down to 28 allows some breathing room since Tatum has talented shooters around him who can catch fire on any given night.
Jayson Tatum Over 8+ Assists (+230)
Boston’s superstar has made tremendous leaps as a playmaker. He’s a point forward who is comfortable deferring and has developed a great sense of timing. Tatum has started bringing the ball up more often, which has boosted his assist numbers. He’s only averaging 5.5 dimes on the season, but considering his 30 minutes or less in half his outings, there’s obvious room for growth.
This should be a high-scoring affair where both teams are at a breakneck pace. There will be points in droves, and if the Celtics are as efficient as they’ve been under coach Joe Mazzulla, Tatum is due for a high-assist performance.
