Tuesday’s four-game slate of NBA action means finding value in season-long fantasy and DFS formats is no easy task. Even with so few matchups, there’s plenty of value available. Here are three guards I’m looking to back tonight.

1. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks at MIN ($11,500)
Monday night was about as bad as it gets for Luka Doncic. The five-time All-Star did not look like himself against the Jazz, scoring 15 points on an atrocious five-for-twenty two shooting performance. Still, with only four games on tap, it’s nearly impossible not to pick the superstar as our top guard tonight.
It helps that we just saw Doncic destroy Minnesota in last year’s playoffs. Over five games in the Western Conference Finals, he averaged 32.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 2.2 steals. While the total minutes and intensity won’t be the same during a matchup in October, there’s plenty of evidence that Luka torches the Timberwolves. Even against a great defense, this should be a get-right spot.
2. De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings at UTA ($8,500)
This could have gone to Anthony Edwards, but De’Aaron Fox has the better matchup at a cheaper price. On the year, Sacramento’s point guard is averaging a healthy 22.3 points, 8.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game, well in line with his career numbers. Some statistical regression was expected with the addition of DeMar DeRozan, but it’s nice to see Fox continue to assert himself as one of the game’s best scorers.
The Jazz are currently giving up the fourth-most DK fantasy points to opposing guards. In Fox’s five previous games against Utah, he’s put up 28.0 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.2. rebounds. This is a prime spot against one of the NBA’s worst defenses; Fox might have the most value of any star on tonight’s slate.
3. Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. DAL ($8,900)
As previously mentioned, Edwards is still a tempting play in DFS lineups, even if he doesn’t come cheap. The Timberwolves star is off to another strong start, posting a 27.7 point, 6.3 rebound, 3.7 assist stat line, albeit on a poor 41.4% shooting from the field. With Karl-Anthony Towns in New York, Ant has never been more solidified as the straw that stirs the Minnesota offense; his usage rating is at 31.7%, 12th-highest in the NBA.
The one cause for concern is that we’ve seen Edwards struggle in this matchup before. Although he was far from the biggest problem last spring, the Mavericks did hold the All-Star to 24.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. Those are still strong numbers, but they were well below his normal per36 rates. It’s splitting hairs, but I’d lean towards Doncic and Fox on Tuesday.
