Mobley is off to a great start this season and is a true contender for the Most Improved Player of the Year award – he carries the fifth-best odds for the award on DraftKings Sportsbook at +1200. Through three starts this season, Mobley is averaging a career-high 18 PPG while also averaging 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. After shining in the Cavaliers’ semifinals series with the eventual NBA champion Celtics this past postseason, it was expected that Mobley would take on a more prominent role this coming season and that has been exactly the case.
The big man is handling a 24.7% usage rate, which is the highest rate of his career by a significant 4.1 percentage points. Mobley only trails Donovan Mitchell in usage among the Cavaliers’ starters and Mobley is also averaging a career-high 17.8% rebound percentage.
The 23-year-old is averaging 30.7 PRA per game and he has only failed to eclipse 26.5 PRA in one of his three games this season. For Monday night, Mobley heads to New York to face the Knicks. Ranking dead last in pace, New York has remained a very slow offense, but one thing that has changed for the team is its defense. Albeit a limited sample of only two games, the Knicks rank dead last in defensive efficiency after finishing 11th in the category a season ago. To power forwards, New York is allowing the fifth-most points and the second-most assists.
Mobley has exceeded 26.5 PRA in back-to-back matchups with the Knicks and he is a sharp bet to top this line again Monday.
