Dwyane Wade is the Miami Heat. The legend is synonymous with the team he played for in all but parts of two seasons of his extraordinary career. And now he has received perhaps the ultimate honor a team can provide — a statue outside the home arena.
There’s just one problem: Why doesn’t it look more like Dwyane Wade? The crew on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz broke it down on Monday’s show.
Dan notes that there was no Heat game on Sunday, just a celebration of the superstar NBA champion. DWade may be very proud of the statue, claiming to have been very involved with every detail of its creation, but Dan just can’t believe that given all that it looks nothing like DWade. It doesn’t look like Dwyane Wade, so who does it look like? BJ Penn? Former WWE champion Batista? Dana White? Kelsey Grammer? Laurence Fishburne? Are we just getting red-pilled?!?!?
Dan thinks maybe it’s DWade 30 pounds overweight with a heavy face. After making fun of the Ronaldo statue for years, now the issue has come to Dan’s backyard. The problem has hit home. Now, the DWade statue isn’t quite that bad, but it still doesn’t look like DWade either, even if DWade and the media puppets trip over themselves to compliment the statue. But it does beg the question: How have we gotten so bad at making statues?
“It’s weird, we’re not making statues like we used to. Michelangelos don’t grow on trees.” Thanks, Stugotz!
Jess feels deeply sad, because after seeing the artist and DWade talk about how much they love the statue she just can’t get past the fact it looks nothing like him. It’s not like the artist is bad, Jess says you can tell they’re very skilled. It just looks NOTHING like DWade at all.
Meanwhile, after having his sleep haunted, Dan finally has figured out what the face reminds him of. He says it looks like Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool after he’s been tortured and his face is deformed. Tell him when he’s telling lies.

Plus, we touch on Tony Hinchcliffe’s comments about Puerto Rico at yesterday’s Donald Trump rally at Madison Square Garden. Also, the Jets are a laughing stock, and the Dolphins aren’t much better.
