UPDATE 2:24 p.m. ET: The New England Patriots announced that they’ve ruled Drake Maye (head) out for the remainder of today’s game against the New York Jets.
Jacoby Brissett will helm the offense in his stead. Seeing as Brissett was the starting quarterback for six weeks this season, he should be familiar with the playbook, and capable of managing the offense for at least the remainder of this week.
Midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, Patriots quarterback left the game and headed to the blue medical tent on the sideline.
He soon left the tent and headed straight for the Patriots locker room, and is questionable to return with a head injury.
Jacoby Brissett is in at quarterback.
The Patriots named Drake Maye their starting quarterback in Week 7, and since then, he’s been a bit of a sparkplug for this offense. He drives the ball down the field in a way that Jacoby Brissett seemingly couldn’t, and Maye was incorporating key Patriots playmakers like DeMario Douglas and Ja’Lynn Polk.
Before he left the game today, Maye was three-of-six passing for 23 yards. As he’s developed the past few weeks, he’s become more of a fantasy football asset from the quarterback position, as well. His willingness to use his legs in the passing game lends itself well to fantasy production. His matchup against the Jets this week, however, was an unfavorable one.
