Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks at Oklahoma City Thunder ($9,700) — Efficiency doesn’t matter. This is NBA DFS. Raw stats matter. Counting stats matter. How many minutes does a player get? What’s their usage rate? Young started the season with a 37-minute appearance and followed with 41 minutes in Game 2. The Hawks vs. Thunder over/under is 232.5 — the highest on the slate.
Other Options — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($9,700)

Terance Mann, Los Angeles Clippers at Golden State Warriors ($5,000) — There should be a drop in Mann’s ownership after a disappointing performance on Saturday night. That’s significant on a four-game slate with a small player pool. Mann opened the season with 21.75 DKFP in 27 minutes. A 30-minute player for $5,000 can work on a small slate.
Other Options — Scoot Henderson ($5,300), Brandin Podziemski ($4,700), Dyson Daniels ($5,100)

Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks ($7,500) — This could be a big season for Thomas. He led the Nets in scoring last season. He’ll likely do the same in 2024-25. There’s a slight difference this year. It’s a contract year. Big bucks come from big buckets. Minutes result in buckets. Thomas scored 55.25 DKFP in 34 minutes in the season opener and followed with 36 DKFP in 35 minutes in a double-digit loss to the Magic.
Other Options — Zion Williamson ($8,200), Jalen Johnson ($7,800)
Value
Toumani Camara, Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans ($4,400) — A sub 5K starter needs to be on the radar. Toumani “Too Many Buckets” Camara is a developing talent. He doesn’t do anything particularly well but he plays 30 minutes for a team that doesn’t do anything particularly well. He’ll get plenty of opportunities to exceed a 6x return of value.

Stud
Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Atlanta Hawks ($7,700) — Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,000) dropped two 50-burgers to start the season. Sunday will likely be the third serving. It’s safe. Holmgren carries a little more risk but offers better value. Holmgren is averaging 55 DKFP. That number would be higher if the Thunder didn’t blow out the Bulls on Saturday.
Other Options — Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,000), Deandre Ayton ($6,900)
Value
Noah Clowney, Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks ($3,900) — Stop clowning around. Give Clowney some minutes. The Nets are without several frontcourt players. Clowney has stepped in and filled minutes. He scored 18.5 DKFP in 15 minutes on Oct. 23 and 11.5 DKFP in 16 minutes on Friday. Brooklyn plays three games in the next four days and six in the next nine. The Nets are going to need legs. Clowney should see a minutes boost on Sunday.
