NFL Best Bets: Top Prop Bets for Week 8 on DraftKings Sportsbook

Updated:

By: Ciaran Doyle

Week 8 of the NFL season is here, and with that comes a 14-game Sunday slate, followed by the Giants at the Steelers on Monday night. There are plenty of opportunities to win prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook this weekend, so let’s get right into it. Below are some of my favorite prop bets for NFL Week 8.

OVER Picks

RB Derrick Henry Over 96.5 Rush Yds (-115)

This is a massive total, but when you look into Henry’s stats, it makes sense. Not only does Henry lead the league in rush yards with 873, but his 6.5 yards per carry is also the best among running backs in the NFL. King Henry has been dominant this season, and I expect that to continue on Sunday. He has 100 or more yards in four of the last five games and on the season, is averaging 124.7 rush yards per game.

King Henry is always a threat to score, having at least one touchdown run in six of his first seven games. His anytime touchdown scorer odds (-295) are not worth it to me at that price, so I will go for the over on his rush yards instead. As for the matchup, the Ravens will be on the road in Cleveland, who are average at defending the run. The Browns rank 15th in the NFL in that category, giving up 126.1 rush yards per game. I think it will take one of the elite rush defenses in the NFL to stop Henry the way he has been running the ball this season.

RB Javonte Williams Over 62.5 Rush Yds (-115)

Williams is not someone I would usually target, but coming off last week’s performance, I have changed my mind. Also, facing the worst rushing defense in the NFL doesn’t hurt either. The Broncos are matched up against the Panthers this week, who have had a hard time stopping the run this season. Carolina is giving up 162.1 yards per game on the ground, and just last week, the Commanders ran for 214 and a touchdown against them, averaging 5.8 yards per carry.

The Panthers can’t stop a nosebleed right now, and Javonte Williams is coming off his best game of the season. He rushed 14 times for 88 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints in Week 7, both season highs. His 6.3 yards per carry in that game is also the best of the season. Both New Orleans and Carolina struggle against the run, so I think this could be a similar outing for Williams as last week. I will take the over in this spot.

WR Romeo Doubs Over 45.5 Rec Yds (-115)

Romeo Doubs has flown under the radar of sorts this season and is coming off his best performance. In Week 7 he was targeted a season-high 10 times and caught eight of those for 94 yards. Doubs has gone over this total in four of his six games this season and is averaging 52 receiving yards per game. His yards per reception is a respectable 13.6. If Doubs continues to get the ball thrown his way, it should only take a few catches to hit the over on this number.

The Packers have a great matchup this weekend, facing the Jaguars, who rank 31st in the NFL against the pass. The Packers have had success through the air this season, with Jordan Love ranking second in pass yards per game (270.2). I expect the Packers to continue to lean on their passing game, and what better week to do it than this Sunday against a struggling secondary?

UNDER Picks

Panthers Team Total Touchdowns Under 1.5 (-120)

This bet can be found under team props, and with Bryce Young back in the lineup, we are back to fading this Carolina Panthers offense. At the time of writing, there are no listed prop bets for Young otherwise I would have seriously considered looking at his passing under totals. Either way, I still love this bet as the Panthers have a tough matchup this weekend. Young will return to the lineup on the road against the third-best scoring defense in the NFL. The Broncos only allow 15.1 points per game so far this season.

It’s far from an ideal spot for the struggling quarterback to return to, but here we are. I expect Young and the Panthers offense as a whole to struggle mightily, and this one might get late quickly. Barring a defensive or special teams touchdown for Carolina, I just can’t see them getting into the endzone twice.

QB Kyler Murray Under 213.5 Pass Yds (-115)

Murray has struggled to pass the ball at times this season, and his 190.1 pass yards per game this season is 28th in the NFL. To make matters worse, this weekend he will be on the road against the best pass defense in the NFL. Miami is only surrendering 154.5 pass yards per game and they don’t look like slowing down. Just last week, they managed to hold Anthony Richardson to 129 passing yards on 24 attempts.

Murray has only gone over this total in two of seven games this season, so I am not sure why he would this week against the best secondary he has seen this season. I like the under here in what should be a low-scoring affair in Miami.

RB Nick Chubb Under 48.5 Rush Yds (-120)

Usually, this would be a low total for Chubb, but he is just coming back from a serious injury. In his first return to action last week, he did not look like himself, despite scoring a touchdown. He ran the ball 11 times against the Bengals, only gathering 22 yards for an average of two per carry. Chubb got three targets in the passing game, catching one of them for 10 yards. It’s safe to say that’s not a typical performance from Chubb, and he should get better as the season goes on.

However, the schedule makers did him no favors this week, as the Browns face the best rush defense in the league. Baltimore has been elite against the run, only allowing 68.4 yards per game. They have surrendered the lowest yards per carry to opponents of only 3.3. This game is going to be tough sledding for Chubb, and I just don’t see how he makes it to 49 or more rush yards.
