There’s been a lot of speculation about two characters throughout the MCU’s latest Disney+ show, Agatha All Along. Episodes 5 and 6 cleared things up with Joe Locke’s characters, but it wasn’t until episode 7 that we got more on Aubrey Plaza’s.
Both were significant, but Plaza’s has the potential to be much more significant. Let’s get into why.

Who is Aubrey Plaza’s character?
Shortly after learning that Joe Locke is a combination of William Kaplan and Billy Maximoff, one of the Scarlet Witch’s sons, we got Plaza’s reveal. She is Death.
Of course, this reveal explains some things. Her odd relationship with Agatha. The way she talks to the other witches. How she moves in a sinister manner at times. (Side note: Perfect casting choice.)
Death, of course, is a character seen plenty in various forms of story. But this iteration is Marvel’s own take. Across other stories, Death often seems more mythic or mystical. In the case of Marvel, she’s a cosmic entity. In fact, there’s one cosmic being in particular that she’s heavily linked to in the comics — more on that in a moment.
While there are exceptions, Death typically only appears to those who are about to die. Looking at the events of Agatha All Along, it seems that’s still somewhat in play.
Major MCU Ties
While it seems Death and Agatha have a little something going, Plaza’s reach should not be limited to this show. Her starpower, combined with this character’s background, could have massive reach in the MCU.
Thanos
Yes, Josh Brolin’s character was wiped out in End Game. But in the comics, no one ever stays dead. And as we’ve seen with Robert Downey Jr. being cast as Dr. Doom, the MCU isn’t opposed to bringing anyone back. In this instance, Brolin returning would make far more sense.
Death is why Thanos sought out the infinity stones in the first place. In the comics, they have something of a romantic relationship — although very one-sided and far from harmonious at times.
Hela
Another character that was part of an all-time MCU movie that’s gone. While not as popular as Thanos or the third character on this list, Cate Blanchett’s Hela was quite the problem for Thor, Loki, Hulk and Valkyrie.
Hela is a goddess of death. But as we’ve learned throughout the MCU, Asgardians aren’t the be-all, end-al gods. Death might not be the top dog in the Marvel landscape, but she’s not immensely far off.
More importantly, note what Hela is the goddess of. Death is kind of her whole reason for being, so there’s something that could be done there if the MCU wanted to bring Blanchett back.
Deadpool
Like Thanos, there’s a bit of a love affair going on here. In fact, Thanos grew so jealous of Deadpool’s relationship with Death that the Mad Titan cursed Wade Wilson with immortality.
Honestly, what more do you need to hear? Plaza is electric, Ryan Reynolds just helped deliver Marvel’s latest box office hit and the source material supports it all.
Something larger needs to happen with Plaza in the MCU beyond Agatha All Along.
