Dak Prescott ($14,400 CP) — The 49ers’ injury report should open up plenty of value for the DraftKings Sunday Night Football Showdown Slate. The pairing of Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb ($10,600) in lineups is likely. They fit but do they fit? The money is there, but the matchup isn’t. The 49ers defense is not the problem. It’s the offense. That offensive problem could spread. If the 49ers offense can’t stay on the field, Prescott projects to pass and pass and pass. This may not be an efficient pick but the value picks available on this slate could render efficiency useless.
UTIL Plays
Ricky Pearsall ($5,800) — The 49ers’ wide receiver injury problems began long before the season started. The first-round pick got shot in the chest during a San Francisco robbery. He returned to action last week. The rest of the 49ers’ receivers did not. The survivor could be SF WR No. 1 in Week 8. Pearsall caught three of five targets for 21 yards in his debut.
Ronnie Bell ($3,000) — Who is this guy? The 49ers’ locker room is an infirmary. Their starting receivers — Deebo Samuel ($10,000), Jauan Jennings ($7,200) and Brandon Aiyuk — are not certain to play, with the latter now on IR. George Kittle ($8,800) missed practice on Wednesday and is a question mark. Even the backups may not be up to the task. Chris Conley ($2,800) missed practice this week, as well. Bell was a 2023 seventh-round pick out of Michigan. His career has been quiet but he could make some noise with an increased opportunity on Sunday night. Bell isn’t on the injury report, like the typical San Francisco receiver, but he has a fever — for more cowbell. Bell could bang the cowbell against the Cowboys and make some noise.
Brock Purdy ($9,400) — The Dallas defense has not surrendered yardage but has hemorrhaged points. Opponents have scored on 48.4% of their drives (29th). Purdy might not pile on the yards but could pick up plenty of touchdowns. This NFL DFS pick will scare many away. Purdy’s receivers are rough. The 49ers’ running attack figures to be their offensive approach on Sunday night. That rush attack could be Purdy. The TDs could all run through Purdy. Given the situation, Purdy’s ownership will be lower than usual. Ownership is half the battle on a DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown Slate.
Fades
George Kittle ($8,800) — As always, the fade must be bold. This isn’t clickbait. DK Network would never. Kittle is a lock. He’s all the 49ers got. Everyone is jamming the tight end in — and into every lineup. That should set off DFS alarm bells. Leverage isn’t easy on DraftKings NFL Showdown Slates. It’s easy this week if Kittle plays like a kitty. He was the 49ers’ main pass catcher in Week 7. He caught six passes for 92 yards against a strong Chiefs defense. That’s good but it doesn’t bust open a slate and justify his massive ownership in Week 8. Dallas has been above average against tight ends (9.8 DKFP per game). This is bold, but a great angle for single-entry players in big tournaments.
THE OUTCOME
Two of the most famous franchises in sports history enter the season with Super Bowl aspirations. Those dreams seem to be slipping away. The season is leanin’ to no meanin’. Sunday Night Football is a statement game. Both teams have a chance to make fans believe. Dallas has been given an enormous advantage. The 49ers injury bug took too big of a bite. The swelling hasn’t gone down, so San Francisco is going down.
