Calvin Ridley ($5,200) is the clear No. 1 wideout for the Titans after DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Chiefs this week, but Ridley is trending towards not playing this Sunday vs. the Lions. Due to a foot injury, the receiver missed his second consecutive practice Thursday.
If Ridley sits, Tyler Boyd ($3,900) will be, by default, Tennessee’s top receiver, while Chig Okonkwo ($3,100) will also likely see more targets. However, there are many issues with this situation. First off, Will Levis ($4,400) was called a “long shot” to play by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler earlier this week, putting Mason Rudolph ($4,400) in line for his second start in a row.
Starting last week vs. the Bills, Rudolph completed 62.5% of his passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and one pick. The veteran is averaging a low 5.3 yards per pass this season, which ranks 36th of 39 qualifying quarterbacks.
On top of the terrible quarterback play, Boyd and Okonkwo will have to deal with facing a Detroit defense that is by far the highest-graded defense on PFF this season. Rudolph should struggle mightily in this spot and Boyd and Okonkwo should do very little as a result. Neither can be considered in season-long formats, and while there is temptation for Boyd and Okonkwo for DFS because they are so cheap, their upside is severely limited and they need to be avoided in that format, as well.
