After having his season cut short due to a shoulder injury a year ago, Morant is healthy and will kick off his 2024-25 campgain vs. the Jazz on Wednesday. On the DraftKings Sportsbook, the Grizzlies are 2.5-point favorites over Utah and this game carries an O/U of 229.5 points. Below, I dive into my favorite Morant player prop to attack for Wednesday night.

Morant O 25.5 points (-120)

The Grizzlies begin their season Wednesday without Jaren Jackson Jr. (hamstring). The forward is the undisputed No. 2 option for Memphis behind Morant, and with Jackson Jr. missing, Morant should flourish as a scorer. While the guard didn’t play any full games with Jackson Jr. inactive last season, Morant logged 111 minutes with Jackson Jr. off the floor. In those minutes, Morant’s usage increased 5.9 percentage points to a huge 36.9%. For some perspective, this rate would have finished second only to Joel Embiid in usage last season.

Per 100 possessions, Morant averaged 38.4 points with Jackson Jr. off the court last season and he scored 0.8 points per minute in this situation. Morant’s matchup is also a plus, going against a Jazz team that ranked sixth in pace and 29th in defensive efficiency last season. Despite missing Jackson Jr. —who averaged a career-high 22.5 PPG last season—Memphis’ implied team total is set at a high 115.5 points on the DraftKings Sportsbook, which is a testament to how strong of a matchup this is vs. Utah.

After playing in only nine games last season, Morant is going to be hyped up to make a statement in this season opener and he should surpass this 25.5-point line on the DraftKings Sportsbook.
