If Chris Olave plays in Week 8, is he still a must-start with Spencer Rattler at QB?

After suffering a concussion on one of the first plays in the Saints’ Week 6 matchup, Olave ($6,400) missed Week 7 with the injury. However, the wideout is trending in the right direction to make his return in Week 8 after Olave got a limited practice in this Wednesday.

In other news for the Saints, HC Dennis Allen told the media that Spencer Rattler ($4,600) will make his third straight start this Sunday vs. the Chargers.

Rattler and Olave have only played two total snaps together this season, but Olave did catch his only target for five yards on one of those snaps. Rashid Saheed (knee) is done for the season, so Olave should be a target hog if he suits up, but Rattler’s inefficiency is a problem. This season, the rookie has completed only 62.7% of his passes and he is averaging an underwhelming 5.5 yards per attempt, which ranks 34th of 39 qualifying quarterbacks.

This matchup vs. Los Angeles is also an issue, with their defense giving up the 11th-fewest yards per pass. This game’s low O/U of 40.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook is the second-lowest total of Week 8 and Olave can’t be considered a must-start if he is active. The wideout is still a viable WR3/FLEX play if your roster is thin, but Olave’s upside is limited with Rattler under center this week.
