DeAndre Hopkins traded to Chiefs live updates

The wide receiver trade winds continue to swirl in the NFL, as this time it’s the Chiefs who make a big splash. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Kansas City is acquiring five-time pro-bowler DeAndre Hopkins from the Titans. Tennessee will receive a conditional fourth-round pick in return.

The Chiefs have been absolutely ravaged by injuries in their WR corps, first losing Hollywood Brown for the season due to a shoulder injury sustained in the preseason. They then lost budding-superstar Rashee Rice to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 vs. the Chargers. They drafted Xavier Worthy with the 28th pick in this year’s draft, but he’s been underwhelming to say the least, while Father Time might have finally caught up to Travis Kelce.

Hopkins, 32, is no spring chicken himself, but still has plenty left in the tank after a 75-catch, 1,057-yard, seven-touchdown campaign in 2023. He’s been stuck with awful quarterback play this year in Tennessee, but will now get to play with arguably the best signal-caller in the game in Patrick Mahomes.

Hopkins will immediately step into the WR1 role in KC, and will find his fantasy value completely rejuvenated playing in an Andy Reid led offense.

As for the Titans, there should now be more targets to go around for Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.
