Jaylen Brown best prop bets for Knicks vs. Celtics

By: Ryan Wohl

The Boston Celtics will begin their quest to repeat as NBA Champions for the first time since 1969. In the first game of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Celtics will take on the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET at the TD Garden. There hasn’t been a back-to-back NBA champion during the past six seasons. The Golden State Warriors were the last team to win back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Jayson Tatum is regarded as the Celtics’ face and best player. But during the playoffs, that wasn’t the case. Jaylen Brown won the 2023-24 Eastern Conference MVP and the NBA Finals MVP awards. Brown, 27, made his third All-Star team last season and his third time during the previous four seasons. Brown averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

Here are player props for Jaylen Brown for the Celtics’ first game of the season against the Knicks.

For tonight’s opening game, Brown’s lines are 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 three-pointers on DraftKings Sportsbook. Although Tatum provides more upside in the scoring department, Brown has been more consistent. The Celtics are arguably the deepest team in the NBA, and it can sometimes be hard to predict who will beat you. They had five players average over 10 points a game. 34

Of the 70 games Brown played during the 2023-24 season, he scored over 23.5 points in 34, a little under half of last season’s games. Brown is -105 to hit that mark for tonight’s game against the Knicks. During Brown’s eight-year career, he has played 29 games against the Knicks. In those games, Brown has averaged 19.9 points.

Brown’s three-point percentage improved last season, making 35.4 percent of them. During the 19 postseason games last year, Brown hit over 2.5 three-pointers five times. Although Brown shot only 23 percent from deep during the NBA Finals, he doesn’t lose confidence and always makes the right play. Brown is +150 to go over 2.5 three-pointers while being -195 to go under on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Brown has been an elite rebounder on the wing. He had over 5.5 rebounds 12 times in the playoffs. Brown is -120 to hit the over for this prop bet. Brown will be an intricate part of the Celtics’ run at winning back-to-back championships.
