Is Nick Chubb still a viable fantasy asset for the Browns?

While the Browns lost their fifth game in a row in Week 7, Chubb made his anticipated return after going down with a serious knee injury in Week 2 of last season. As a rusher, the back rushed 11 times for 22 yards and a touchdown. As a receiver, Chubb caught one of his three targets for ten yards. Overall, the back posted 10.2 FPTS vs. the Bengals.

Chubb struggled with his efficiency, averaging a modest two yards per carry and he only logged 35.7% of the snaps. But the Browns’ still view the 28-year-old as their top rusher. In his first game in over a year, Chubb handled 52.4% of the Cleveland’s running back carries, including all three of team’s redzone rushes.

No other Browns’ player than Chubb saw more than three carries and while Jerome Ford (hamstring) was out for the second straight game, there is no timetable for his return and Cleveland has struggled mightily with Ford as their lead rusher this season, ranking 28th in rushing yards per game.

Chubb is averaging a strong 0.43 FPTS per snap over the last three seasons and while its going to take some time for him to regain his form, the four-time Pro-Bowler is trusted by the Browns, and they should use him as their top rusher no matter who else is available. Chubb’s workload should grow each week and while we can’t expect the superstar fantasy scores we saw from him in the past, the back should provide solid numbers and is a viable RB3/FLEX for the rest of the season.
