MONDAY UPDATE 6:53 PM ET: The injury bug hasn’t just gone rampant, it’s taken over this offense. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Deebo Samuel has been hospitalized due to pnemonia and is suffering from fluid in his lungsโhe does not have a time of return. TE George Kittle is dealing with a sprained foot and is considered day to day.
MONDAY UPDATE: Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz announced San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season. Ricky Pearsall, a 2024 first-round pick, debuted on Sunday, catching three passes for 21 yards. With Aiyuk out, Pearsall will become an important part of the 49ers offense moving forward.
UPDATE 7:47 PM ET: Head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that Brandon Aiyuk may have torn his ACL.
UPDATE 6:17 PM ET: Deebo Samuel is now officially out.
UPDATE 6:10 PM ET: Brandon Aiyuk is officially out while Deebo Samuel is questionable, but Samuel was seen in street clothes.
The 49ers are trying to play catchup against the Chiefs in the second quarter, but may be shorthanded on play-makers. Brandon Aiyuk ($6,300; 1.8 FPTS) took a big hit and remained down on the field. His knee twisted awkwardly under him and he walked back to the blue tent for further evaluation before being carted to the locker room.
He doesn’t have an official status yet, but we should get an update after the half.
His absence will be felt even more since Deebo Samuel ($7,000) woke up not feeling well. He was limited to just three snaps before he went to the locker room and is officially questionable to return.
While the stars are sidelined, the 49ers will have to rely on George Kittle ($6,000) and Ricky Pearsall ($3,400) as pass-catchers and Jordan Mason ($7,600) out of the backfield.
As of right now, his status is unclear. We’ll provide more updates as they roll in from the team.
