DraftKings Showdown Captain (CPT) Picks
Breece Hall ($15,600)
In the latest MNF captain piece, I told the masses to buy the Breece Hall dip. The 23-year-old was in his worst rut since turning pro and looked like a shell of the superstar in the making we saw last season, despite dealing with the likes of Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle under center. My case was simple: the Iowa State product is far too talented to fail. Don’t call me Jordan Belfort or anything, but Hall stock is hotter than ever.
Against Buffalo, the New York running back went off for 113 yards on the ground and chipped in 56 through the air. The uptick in volume was apparent, tallying 20+ touches for the first time since Week 3. This offense is a different animal when Hall is carving up defenses and Aaron Rodgers ($14,400) can work out of play action. Even with the addition of Davante Adams ($15,000), Hall should continue to be the premier security blanket out of the backfield.
New play-caller Todd Downing squashed any buzz about Braelon Allen cutting into Hall’s workload, as the rookie had just three carries. The Big Apple’s premier bell cow is back, and he’s a top DFS option for the rest of the season.
Garrett Wilson ($13,800)
Yes, the Jets acquired Davante Adams, a close personal friend of their starting quarterback. This move elevates not only the aerial attack as a whole but also Wilson’s fantasy relevance.
Adams and Wilson will likely split time rotating between Z receiver and the slot, with Allen Lazard as the X in 11 personnel. With Adams in the fold, Wilson will see a healthy dose of nickelbacks and the opposition’s second-best corners.
His chemistry with Rodgers has started to blossom, and that won’t change with a new weapon in town. Wilson’s targets will take a slight dip, but not enough to be concerned. He’s a professional route runner who will only be more open and have a higher opportunity share. Ignore the noise and consider giving Wilson the crown.
George Pickens ($12,600)
George Pickens appears frustrated with his role — shocking. His annoyance is partially justified as he’s only had two outings this year with five or more receptions. Pickens has had trouble squeezing in contested catches and dropped a touchdown in the recent matchup with Las Vegas. Will he finally channel this discontent into better play on the field?
Pickens has all the tools to be dominant. Few receivers in the sport possess his physical gifts or nose for the ball. Regardless of who the signal-caller is, the passing game has to reach second gear eventually, or this team will regress to the mean. The club will likely design some plays to get their young stud involved early and often, which helps his captain’s candidacy.
