Enduring a four-game losing streak, the New Orleans Saints will host the Denver Broncos at Caesars Superdome on Thursday Night Football as Sean Payton returns to Louisiana. Quarterback Spencer Rattler made his first start and didn’t get the result he wanted. Despite the Saints roaring back in the second quarter to take a 27-24 half-time lead after trailing 17-0, the game slipped away with the Bucs scoring 27 unanswered points in the second half. Meanwhile, the Broncos’ latest outing ended in a 23-16 home loss to the Chargers. That scoreline is flattering, with the Broncos trailing 23-0 entering the final quarter before mounting an all-too-late comeback. Star cornerback Pat Surtain suffered an early concussion and is unlikely to suit up on Thursday. His absence may be less felt as New Orleans deals with injuries to lead receivers Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee).
