Week 7 of the NFL season has arrived, and the fantasy quarterback landscape has taken quite the turn. Lamar Jackson and Jayden Daniels currently reign supreme, but who will stand out this week?
Let’s break down my Week 7 start ’em, sit ’em fantasy football quarterback picks.
Start ‘Em: Bo Nix (Broncos) at Saints — THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
I certainly was not expecting to write up Bo Nix as a start when I kicked off these articles in Week 1, but here we are.
While I still have my doubts about Nix’s longterm potential as a starter in this league, his last two performances have been impressive. The rookie racked up at least 21 points in both outings, finding the end zone on the ground against the Raiders and rushing for 61 yards against the Chargers. Nix’s mobility has stood out to me as the most impressive aspect of his game thus far, and it’s certainly beneficial from a fantasy perspective.
The Saints have been relatively stingy against fantasy quarterbacks, but given the state of their decimated offense, something tells me Nix and company will have plenty of opportunities to put points on the board in Sean Payton’s return to New Orleans.
Sit ‘Em: Kyler Murray (Cardinals) vs. Chargers
We know the high-end fantasy potential is there with Kyler. He’s scored 25-plus fantasy points twice so far this season.
The problem? In his other four matchups, he’s failed to eclipse the 16-point mark. Somehow, those numbers have landed him the current QB9 spot, which says a lot about the lack of quarterback production this season. That said, I’m concerned about his ups and downs, with the latter being the case in two of Murray’s last three outings.
The duel-threat QB failed to get anything going on the ground last Sunday against the Packers, averaging just two yards per carry. Through the air, it wasn’t much better, as he finished with 214 yards and one touchdown. This week, the Cardinals take on an even tougher matchup, as the Chargers allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing signal callers per game. To make matters worse, he may be suiting up without his top option in Marvin Harrison Jr., who is currently working his way through concussion protocol.
This is just the start of a tough four-game stint for Murray from a fantasy matchup perspective, so I’d leave him on your bench until he shows some consistency.

Start ‘Em: Jared Goff (Lions) at Vikings
The Lions are humming right now.
Dan Campbell’s squad scored 89 combined points over their last two games against Seattle and Dallas, and Jared Goff has been at the center of it all. Detroit’s quarterback followed up a historic 18-18 outing by racking up 315 yards and three touchdowns with no picks against the Cowboys, producing at least 25 fantasy points in each matchup.
Ben Johnson wants to bury opponents on the ground, which opens up everything for Goff out of play action. The last few weeks, he’s taken advantage of those opportunities, and I expect that to continue in this divisional clash with Minnesota.
Sit ‘Em: Anthony Richardson (Colts) vs. Dolphins
Fantasy managers who have held onto Richardson for the last six weeks, I know the temptation to start him is there…
Do. Not. Give. In.
After his 27-point outburst in Week 1 against the Texans, Richardson proceeded to combine for fewer than 20 points over the subsequent two outings. He’s scored just four touchdowns on the year while throwing six interceptions. His quarterback rating on the season? 60.2.
Assuming Richardson is able to return from his oblique injury, he’ll be stepping into a matchup against the Dolphins, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks per game this season. Need I go on? While Richardson still has plenty of upside thanks to his running ability, it’s not worth starting him until his confidence clearly returns under center.
