NFL Week 7 Start or Sit: Devaughn Vele

NFL Week 7 Start or Sit: Devaughn Vele

Updated:

By: Alex Hunter

Vele ($4,400 for Showdown) made his return from a four-game absence this past Sunday and was productive, catching four of his six targets for 78 yards (11.8 FPTS) vs. a Chargers’ defense that has limited opposing wide receivers to the fourth-least yards this season (640).

Ranking second only to Courtland Sutton ($10,800) in routes among the Broncos’ receivers in this loss, Vele operated as the Broncos’ No.2 wideout in his return. In his two starts this season, Vele has handled an 18.9% target share, which also only trails Sutton in these contests.

Vele is averaging a strong 0.35 FPTS per snap and has only failed to catch two of his 14 targets this season. Vele clearly has strong chemistry with fellow rookie Bo Nix ($9,400) and is in a strong spot in Week 7 to continue producing when facing the Saints on Thursday, who are allowing the seventh-most yards per pass this season (7.1). New Orleans is giving up the fifth-most receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,024) to wideouts, and Vele is a solid WR3 or FLEX play for season-long leagues. Additionally, he is a no-brainer for Thursday’s Showdown slate at a low cost of only $4,400. Vele is a strong bet to surpass his 31.5-receiving yard line on the DraftKings Sportsbook (-115).
