Coming off their third straight loss, the Jets have decided to make another huge change. One week after firing head coach Robert Saleh, New York has traded for star WR Davante Adams from the Raiders in exchange for a conditional third-round pick, which has the potential to become a second-round pick, per ESPNโs Adam Schefter.
Adams is a dominating presence that has commanded high usage his entire career and his presence almost certainly is going to hurt WR Garrett Wilsonโs fantasy value. Adams is leading the Raiders with a 25.2% target share this season and during the last three seasons he played with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay from 2019-21, Adams handled a massive 32.2% target share. Notably, the wideout finished top-three in target share among receivers for each of those three seasons.
Rodgers without question had something to do with the Jets acquiring his former teammate and he surely is planning on rekindling his elite connection with Adams in New York.
Wilson is currently the No. 6 receiver in fantasy football this season and he is leading the Jets with a 30.3% target share. Unfortunately, now with Adams in the picture, Wilsonโs target share is likely to heavily decrease, naturally hurting his fantasy numbers. During his final three years in Green Bay with Rodgers, no other player than Adams saw a target share over 15% for the Packers.
Coming off back-to-back strong performances, with 32.1 FPTS vs. the Vikings and then 27.7 FPTS vs. the Bills, now is the time to trade Wilson if you own him in your fantasy league, as another league member might not see the drop that is coming for the receiver with Adams now in town.
