UPDATE: Paul George appears to have avoided suffering a serious injury. An MRI completed on Tuesday showed a bone bruise, but no structural damage to the veteran’s left knee.
Still, George will be re-evaluated in a week’s time. The 76ers open the regular season on October 23 against the Bucks — in eight days. That means George’s availability for the first contest of 2024-25 is very much in doubt. His possible absence would open up a ton of minutes and shots on the wing. – Garion Thorne
OCTOBER 14: With around eight minutes left in the second quarter of Monday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks, Paul George was guarding Jalen Johnson when he got bumped in the paint, causing him to stumble backwards. As he tried to regain his balance, his left knee buckled and he went to the ground.
Per Gina Mizell of the Philly Inquirer, George hyperextended his knee. – Stan Son
