NFL Week 7 is almost in the books, pending the Sunday and Monday night matchups, but the opening odds for Week 8 are up on DraftKings Sportsbook and it’s time to give a lookey-loo.
We have no teams on bye. Yippeee!!! And no London game. Woohooo!!!
On Thursday night, the Minnesota Vikings fly to Los Angeles to face off against the Rams after getting knocked off the undefeated perch by the Detroit Lions in Week 7.
The early Sunday slate consists of eight games. There are two double-digit favorites with three games within a field goal. The late-afternoon slate consists of five games. Three of the four games have touchdown favorities. The CHI/WAS game is off the board due to the health of Jayden Daniels. The night game brings back nostalgic vibes from the ’80s, as it’s the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
The Monday Night Football doubleheader has once again been shelved. Booo!!! But at least we got a game, although it could be argued that one between the Giants and Steelers in the Year of our Lord 2024 is not one.
Here’s the full list of Week 8 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. We will update throughout the week.
Thursday Night Football, October 24th
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| MIN Vikings | -3 -112 | O 48 -112 | -155 |
| LA Rams | +3 -108 | U 48 -108 | +130 |
The Kansas City Chiefs remain the lone unbeaten team as the Vikings succumbed to the division-rival Lions in Week 7. The Rams squeaked out a narrow victory over the Raiders in Week 7. The chasm between the Raiders and Vikings is Grand Canyon-esque, but it’s an island prime time game and we are getting close to Halloween, so spooky things can transpire.
Sunday Early Games, October 27th
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| PHI Eagles | +3 -118 | O 47.5 -112 | +124 |
| CIN Bengals | -3 -102 | U 47.5 -108 | -148 |
After splitting their first four games of the season, the Eagles have come out of their bye with two straight wins. Granted, they played the Browns and the Giants, but the defense has played well and A.J. Brown is back to doing A.J. Brown things while Saquon Barkley continues his redemption tour. The Bengals have won three of their last four games after dropping the first three of the season. The lone loss was an overtime one to the Ravens. They have won in divergent ways, with offense in some and defense in others. This will be a tough test for them, and they will need all phases clicking.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| BAL Ravens | -9.5 -110 | O 42.5 -110 | -440 |
| CLE Browns | +9.5 -110 | U 42.5 -110 | +340 |
The Ravens are humming right now, winning four straight after opening the season with two losses. The offense is one of the most potent in the league with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. The defense has been exploitable, having allowed at least 20 points in five of six games, but they did limit the Bills to 10 points. The Browns received good vibes in Week 7, as Nick Chubb returned to action but Deshaun Watson suffered an Achilles injury and could be lost for the season. He has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league, so Jameis Winston will likely get the nod and could invigorate this offense. Get your crab legs ready and start licking your fingers.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| TEN Titans | +11 -112 | O 45.5 -110 | +440 |
| DET Lions | -11 -108 | U 45.5 -110 | -600 |
The Lions are now 5-1 after an impressive win in Week 7 over the Vikings. They possess one of the most potent and balanced offenses in the league. Over the last three weeks, the unit has put up 42, 47 and 31 points. The Titans are the mirror image of the Lions, but not from a regular mirror; one of those clown ones at the circus. The Lions are the biggest favorite of the weekend.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| ARI Cardinals | +3 -110 | O 47.5 -110 | +130 |
| MIA Dolphins | -3 -110 | U 47.5 -110 | -155 |
Tua Tagovailoa is set to return for this one. Thank goodness, because the Dolphins offense has been squished without him, scoring 3, 12, 15 and 10 points. The matchup is a good one because the Cardinals have had one of the worst defenses in the league, both on the ground and through the air. The Cardinals play on Monday night and the offense has not been great. Kyle Murray has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in three of six contests.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| NY Jets | -7 -110 | O 41.5 -110 | -310 |
| NE Patriots | +7 -110 | U 41.5 -110 | +250 |
Drake Maye has infused rays of sunlight into the dark, musty cavern where Patriots fans have been curled up, but they are still devoid of talent to legitimately compete. To be fair, they do have some pieces on defense but it is the Patriots time to pay their dues for the decade of dominance. The Jets have had their issues, which have resulted in three straight losses, but Aaron Rodgers got his wish and is now reunited with his favorite boo, Davante Adams. Will it be enough to spark a turnaround and playoff run?
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| ATL Falcons | +2.5 -110 | O 48 -110 | +114 |
| TB Buccaneers | -2.5 -110 | U 48 -110 | -135 |
These teams played Week 5 in Atlanta, with the Falcons getting the 36-30 win in overtime. Atlanta had 550 yards of total offense with Kirk Cousins throwing for 509 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. He attempted a whopping 58 passes. Baker Mayfield threw three touchdowns, but Tampa Bay was able to ground-and-pound, racking up 160 yards.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| GB Packers | -4.5 -112 | O 49.5 -112 | -218 |
| JAX Jaguars | +4.5 -108 | U 49.5 -108 | +180 |
Love is in the air, as the Packers have been able to slice and dice opposing pass defenses, resulting in three wins in four games. The lone loss was to the Vikings in a close one, 31-29, while Green Bay took care of the Texans in Week 7, 24-22. The Jaguars have won two of their last three games, but those were against the Colts and Patriots. They got smoked, 35-16 by the Bears.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| IND Colts | +6 -112 | O 46 -110 | +205 |
| HOU Texans | -6 -108 | U 46 -110 | -250 |
These teams played in Week 1, with the Texans emerging the 29-27 victors. Much has changed since then, though. Nico Collins and Jonathan Taylor haven’t been playing due to injury. What hasn’t changed is the inability of Anthony Richardson to complete passes and the penchant for getting injured. After throwing for at least 200 yards in five straight, with two of those over 330 yards, Stroud has put up 192 and 86 yards the last two games.
Sunday Late Afternoon Games
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| NO Saints | +7.5 -110 | O 39.5 -110 | +300 |
| LA Chargers | -7.5 -110 | U 39.5 -110 | -380 |
This is one of two games with a total under 40 on the weekend. The Chargers are 30th in pass rate while the Saints are starting a rookie quarterback. There will likely not be many good times in this one.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| BUF Bills | -3 -110 | O 47.5 -110 | -162 |
| SEA Seahawks | +3 -110 | U 47.5 -110 | +136 |
Operation Amari Cooper was a resounding success for Buffalo in Week 7. The Bills put up 34 points with Josh Allen throwing for 323 yards and two touchdowns while Cooper hauled in four of five targets for 66 yard and a touchdown. That was against the Titans, though. The Seahawks provide a more formidable challenge, as they just locked down the Falcons potent passing attack to 14 points while racking up three sacks and two interceptions.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| CAR Panthers | +8 -110 | O 43.5 -108 | +320 |
| DEN Broncos | -8 -110 | U 43.5 -112 | -410 |
The Broncos are at home, possess one of the best defenses in the league and now face a Panthers team that got pasted by Washington with Marcus Mariota playing most of the game. Oh, Raggedy Andy Dalton went 11-of-16 for 93 yards and two interceptions.
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| KC Chiefs | -9.5 -112 | O 42 -108 | -455 |
| LV Raiders | +9.5 -108 | U 42 -112 | +350 |
In Week 16 last season, the Raiders went into Kansas City and beat the Chiefs, 20-14. These teams know and hate each other intimately, so anything can happen. That said, the Chiefs pasted the Raiders, 31-17, four weeks earlier, so the range of outcomes is wide. This season, the Chiefs are the lone undefeated team despite Patrick Mahomes having more interceptions than touchdowns. The defense has been suffocating, holding the last four opponents to fewer than 20 points.
Commanders vs. Bears
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| CHI Bears | +2.5 -115 | O 45 -112 | -148 |
| WAS Commanders | -2.5 -105 | U 45 -108 | +124 |
The Bears have won their last three games, putting up 24, 36 and 35 points. The number overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams, has been playing much better since his early-season struggles. The Commanders are one of the hottest teams in the league, primarily due to the play of the number two overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jayden Daniels. Unfortunately, Daniels suffered a rib injury in Week 7 and is questionable for this one.
Sunday Night Game
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| DAL Cowboys | +5 -112 | O 47 -110 | +180 |
| SF 49ers | -5 -108 | U 47 -110 | -218 |
The 49ers are 3-4 on the season after losing 28-18 to the Chiefs in Week 7. Even worse, they may have lost Brandon Aiyuk for the season due to an ACL injury. Deebo Samuel also got banged up while Christian McCaffrey hasn’t played a snap yet this season. It’s been one of the years for San Francisco. Despite the injuries, they are big favorites because they still have tons of talent with one of the best run games in the league. And the Cowboys have allowed the most Rush EPA in the league by a wide margin.
Monday Night Game, October 28th
Odds on Sunday, October 21
| Spread | Total | Moneyline | |
| NY Giants | +6 -110 | O 36.5 -108 | +205 |
| PIT Steelers | -6 -110 | U 36.5 -112 | -250 |
The Steelers easily dispatched of the Jets in Week 7, 37-15, as the quarterback change from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson was a success. Is a quarterback change imminent in New York, as Daniel Jones threw for 99 yards and took seven sacks in Week 7. The 36.5 total is low, but it’s a far cry from the 28.5 total for the Jets/Patriots game last season.
