PITCHER
Stud
Alex Cobb, Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees ($7,500) — Here’s the bad news: MLB DFS lineups require two pitchers. The options are awful. Carlos Rodon ($8,500) is a top-tier pitcher but he wasn’t sharp against the Royals in the ALDS (four earned runs in 3.1 innings). The Guardians have a 114 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. Traditionally, Rodon is the best and worst pick. Aaron Boone is going to let Rodon pitch, for better or for worse. Stephen Vogt’s got other plans. Matt Boyd got two innings in Game 5. It was a leave-it-all-on-the-table moment. Boyd struck out five in two innings of scoreless work. Cobb will likely get one time through the lineup to fire his best stuff every pitch.

Ryan Braiser, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets ($4,000) — The savings are necessary. Bats are where it’s at. Postseason pitcher pulling is upon us. Only superstar starting pitchers can be trusted. Braiser will get one to two innings. He’s not going to score many points. Will any pitcher score? Will any be a better point-per-dollar pick? Punt pitcher.
INFIELD
Stud
Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets ($6,500) — Unleash the bats. Punt pitcher and pay up at the positions. Ohtani has been relatively quiet so far this postseason. This is his first playoff appearance. As the games go by, he will get more comfortable as demonstrated by his 14 DKFP in Game 1.

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees ($5,800) — This is the BvP truther MLB DFS pick of the day. In 43 at-bats against Rodon, Ramirez has a .353 OBP and five RBIs. Those aren’t the greatest stats but Rodon clearly doesn’t want anything to do with Ramirez. Cleveland’s captain has a great chance of reaching base and boosting the value of those around him in the batting order.

Gleyber Torres, New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians ($4,300) — He bookended the ALDS. Torres scored 22 DKFP in the series opener and closed the series with 12 DKFP. This is Game 1. Yankee Stadium may not be a boost to hitters with tons of power. The short fences are definitely a boost to the likes of Torres.

Jose Iglesias, New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers ($3,700) — The 34-year-old has bounced around a couple teams during his career. He’s hit everywhere. This year, he’s been rejuvenated. Iglesias hit .337 with a .362 wOBA and 137 wRC+.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians ($6,300) — Just jam him in. It’s the Judge. It’s the postseason. It’s the hitter-friendly environment of Yankee Stadium. Judge had a ho-hum series against Kansas City. This is a new series. This is the season. Judge will step up.
Stud
Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets ($5,300) — This might sound radical. Consider a relief pitcher on the Monday Championship Series Slate. It frees up a bunch of salary. Betts doesn’t break the bank but these bats add up fast. Betts is a professional hitter with plenty of postseason plate appearances. Betts has scored 15 DKFP or more three of his five 2024 postseason games.
Value
Giancarlo Stanton, New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians ($4,400) — This is a steal. Stanton has tremendous upside. He’s a power hitter in a hitter’s park. In the final two games of the ALDS, he collected five hits — two doubles and a home run — with three RBIs.
Value
Steven Kwan, Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees ($4,500) — Pesky hitters are playoff pains for pitchers. Kwan was built for this. Kwan got a hit in all five ALDS games. He recorded three hits in Game 3, 4 and 5 for a total of 11 hits in the series. He didn’t drive anyone in but he scored six times.
