Captain’s Picks
Breece Hall ($14,100 CP): This could be the perfect storm for Hall to breakout of his mini slump. Over the past two games, Hall has totaled 55 yards. That’s it. As I write this, I’m watching Joe Burrow run for a 47-yard touchdown against the Giants. That’s essentially all that Hall has done over the past two weeks! It’s incredible how bad he’s been.
But, if you believe what the Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich is saying, he wants to build a run-first offense. That’s great news for Hall, as the Jets have run the ball at one of the lowest rates in the league. Their 35.8% usage of the run is only higher than three other teams in the league. So, if you believe Ulbrich, we’re talking at least a 16% increase moving forward?
It’s a great time for this sentiment to be implemented. The Bills have been one of the worst against the run and have allowed the most DKFP to that position with an average of 35 DKFP. On top of that, four opposing running backs have finished in the top-10 from a fantasy standpoint when facing the Bills. The only issue here will be that Hall is likely the most popular captain option. If you’re ok with being different in the rest of your lineup, you’ll be fine. But a lot of lineups are going to start here, so be prepared to differentiate in your FLEX spots. Nonetheless, Hall is a very strong Captain play in a game that isn’t exactly flush with them.
FLEX Plays
Tyler Conklin ($4,000): Conklin has to be considered one of the better value plays on the board. It’s wild to see him priced at just $4,000, considering has has 15 catches on 23 targets over the last three games. While he’s yet to reach the end zone, he’s running a route on 90% of his snaps. This puts him just inside the top-10 amongst qualified tight ends. He’s been a trusted target for Aaron Rodgers, which isn’t something many can say in this Jets offense. It’s a good spot for Conklin to continue his recent run, as the Bills have allowed a 63% catch rate to opposing tight ends. Even with the potential change to a run-first offense, I think Conklin still has a consistent role in this Jets offense.
Bills D/ST ($4,600): The Bills pass rush could be a major factor in this game. Rodgers has only been under pressure on 28% of his dropbacks thus far, so it’s been fairly smooth sailing thus far. To be fair, Rodgers has already seen two of the worst pass rushing teams in the league in his five games. The Vikings and Titans are not getting to the quarterback. Aside from Week 1 against the 49ers, a strong pass rush has not been a factor against the Jets.
That could change this week. Edge Greg Rousseau has generated 21 pressures, which is tied for ninth in the league. He’ll be lined up across T Olumuyiwa Fashanu, who is struggling lately. He’s allowed nine pressures over the last two weeks. It’s one of the weak spots on what’s been a strong Jets offensive line, especially on the left side. Again, I think people are going to be paying up for “names” on this slate when in reality, I think some of the better plays lie in the lower tier of salary. The Bills D/ST could be one of them.

Allen Lazard ($7,200): Lazard is someone I’d be ok with playing because of his salary. At $7,200, he’s drawn 21 targets over the last three weeks, leading to 12 catches, 140 yards and two touchdowns. In coverage, he’ll draw some tough matchups against CB’s Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford. But, Lazard does travel to the slot as well, doing so on 42% of his snaps. This is where he’ll see the softest coverage, likely against S Cam Lewis. This is someone that opposing teams have been able to pick on. Lewis has allowed 33 catches on 39 targets for 312 yards and a touchdown. I feel better about Lazard over Garrett Wilson, who is $2,800 more expensive and doesn’t travel to the slot as often (33%).
Fades
James Cook ($10,200): This is an easy fade for me. Cook is coming into this game after being limited in practice on Saturday. He was either limited or didn’t participate during the week, which isn’t a great sign. Couple that with a really poor matchup and I cannot justify his salary. Sure, he’s been fine during the season thus far but there’s no way it’s worth $10,200 for someone who is averaging 16.8 DKFP. The Jets have allowed an average of just 19.8 DKFP per game to the position and only two touchdowns. Using Cook would take up over 20% of your salary and I don’t see that being a wise decision.
