Will Josh Allen score a touchdown on Monday Night Football?

Josh Allen has led the Bills to a 3-2 record through the first five weeks of the season and is currently second in MVP odds at +600 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL and will be at the epicenter of the Bills’ production for the foreseeable future.

Heading into Week 6, the Bills are set to face off with the New York Jets on Monday Night football. The Bills enter as 2-point favorites and -135 favorites on the moneyline. The Jets are considered +114 underdogs on DraftKings Sportsbook with the over/under set at 41 for the matchup.

Will Josh Allen Score a TD vs the Jets on Monday Night Football?

One underutilized part of Allen’s skillset this year has been his ability with his legs. Looking back at last season, Allen rushed for 15 touchdowns on the ground which was tied for the second-most in the NFL. His 6-foot-5 frame and athleticism allow Allen to make plays happen on the ground and he can take on a greater hit compared to most quarterbacks because of his size.

However, Allen has tallied just two rushing touchdowns this year with both coming in the opening week. Since this point, Allen has rushed just 17 times for 121 yards.

Looking at the odds for this week, Allen holds +145 odds of an anytime touchdown and his rushing prop sits at 32.5 yards.

The Jets have a tough defense that ranks 5th in points allowed and 2nd in yards given up. There will be some change this week following the decision to fire defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh. However, their personnel remains the same and there should not be too much expected in such a short period. This matchup is expected to be on the lower-scoring side as indicated by the over/under being set at 41 points.

While he has not broken out yet, expect Allen’s touchdown production to begin increasing. He has rushed for 55 total touchdowns in his career and this total is just getting started.

So far this season the Bills have tallied 16 offensive touchdowns with eight occurring through the air and eight being rushing touchdowns. James Cook leads the team with four touchdowns this year, but his status is not certain for Monday night.

With or without Cook, expect the Bills to begin utilizing Allen as a rusher more. The +145 is a solid value for the player that will serve as their primary red zone rushing option if Cook is to miss the game. Even if the Pro Bowl running back is to suit up, Allen is due to begin producing with his legs. He has tallied at least six rushing touchdowns in every season in the NFL and is slightly behind this trajectory for the season.

Keep an eye on the Josh Allen anytime touchdown bet weekly. The Bills have yet to play their best football and Allen’s legs becoming more of a factor will be at the heart of this change.
