The 2023 season was a disaster for Allen Lazard. He came to New York to play with Aaron Rodgers again but Rodgers obviously didn’t play more than four snaps for the Jets. With Zach Wilson at the helm, Lazard saw very little production and a lot of that was through his own fault, as he led the league in drop rate among qualified receivers.
The start of the 2024 season looked more promising for Lazard. He scored three touchdowns in the Jets’ first three games and was a reliable target for his favorite quarterback. However, things have gone downhill for Lazard the past two weeks as the drops have become a serious issue once again. He did find the end zone against Minnesota last week, but he only caught four balls on nine targets.
Garrett Wilson and Rodgers took some time to develop their connection but Wilson now has the third-highest target percentage of any receiver in the league, so any non-Wilson receiver on the Jets is going to struggle for opportunities.
Lazard ($10,800) should not be a top priority for any Monday Night Football showdowns and he is not a candidate to start for season-long fantasy teams either. Lazard could see even fewer targets as the drops continue to be an issue and against the Bills, the Jets should have a more run-heavy approach as the run defense is the Bills’ biggest vulnerability. Garrett Wilson ($15,000) and Breece Hall ($14,100) are the high-profile guys for the Jets for a reason in this matchup and Braelon Allen ($8,100) is the better value play compared to Lazard.
Since they’re in primetime, the Jets aren’t on the main DFS slate this week, but you can still get in on the action with the NFL $1.5M Monday Night Showdown [$500K to 1st] (BUF @ NYJ). Lazard is not a reliable option for this contest.
Lazard is +245 to score a touchdown against the Bills on Monday night.
