The Bills passing game has spread the wealth this season, but they could be without Khalil Shakir ($8,600 in single-game Showdown) on Monday night when they visit the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Shakir missed last week’s game and is questionable for this week after logging a limited practice on Saturday.
Last week without Shakir, Dalton Kincaid ($8,200) and Mack Hollins ($2,400) tied for the team lead with six targets. Kincaid only had two catches for 34 yards, but part of the issue was that Josh Allen ($11,000) only completed nine passes all day while the Texans limited him to just 131 passing yards.
In the two previous weeks, Kincaid had his two best fantasy games of the season, posting 13.1 points against the Jags and 9.7 points against the Ravens. He has multiple catches in every game since Week 1 and had three-plus catches in three straight games before last week’s slight downturn.
Kincaid hasn’t delivered on the promise of a breakout season yet, but he is heavily involved with at least five targets in each of the last three games. He should be busy again on Monday night, especially if Shakir is out.
I have Kincaid ranked as my No. 9 tight end this week, which means he’s a starter in almost all formats. I would probably move him up to No. 7 if Shakir is confirmed out.
In DFS contests like the NFL $1.5M Monday Night Showdown [$500K to 1st] (BUF @ NYJ), Kincaid is an expensive but attractive option. Besides Shakir and James Cook ($10,200) who is also questionable due to a toe injury, Kincaid is the most expensive Buffalo player not named Josh Allen. If you think the second-year TE and Allen will finally connect for a big game, they’re a strong stack to build around on Monday night.
Kincaid is +165 to score a touchdown. I much prefer his odds to score and DFS price to teammate Keon Coleman ($6,800), who will have to deal with cornerback Sauce Gardner if Shakir is sidelined.
If Shakir is out, Kincaid’s upside goes up and his risk goes down since more targets will come his way. The Jets have been good against opposing tight ends in general this year, but I wouldn’t worry too much.
