Michael Wilson ($4,600)
The word “underrated” is rarely used properly in sports. It tends to be a crutch to push the agenda of a well-established player. The term fits better with the group flying under the radar and unfamilar with casual fans. Marvin Harrison Jr. ($7,200) deserves a bulk of the headlines in Arizona, but his teammate Michael Wilson is a receiver who deserves way more appreciation.
The former Stanford Cardinal is a slender 6’2″, but is a smooth route runner with phenomenal body control. He tends to be more of a zone-buster but uses his long frame to box out defenders like a basketball center on the low block. Wilson is great at turning up the field in a flash and using his agility to fight for yards after the catch.
After a rough performance in the season opener against Buffalo, the 24-year-old has settled down and has garnered 22 targets across his last three contests. He’s the WR2 in an offense with fireworks potential and can elevate his production by finding the endzone. Wilson’s stock is only rising—get in while you can.
Rashod Bateman ($4,100)
Rashod Bateman is a professional at getting open. Against press coverage, in particular, he’s a nightmare for corners, creating separation on 72% of the snaps against the look. For context, the closest receiver is at 61%—an astonishing gap that proves he’s a legitimate weapon on the outside.
The former first-round pick is finally carving out an established role in the Baltimore aerial attack. His play count has remained steady, but he runs more routes in games. He has all the tools to be a consistent threat and is finally putting it together.
The matchup against the putrid Washington secondary is too tantalizing to ignore. It’s a unit that lacks talent across the board and is far too aggressive for its abilities. Bateman is coming off the second-most targets in his career and should feast on one of the league’s worst positional groups.
Dalton Schultz ($4,100)
Opportunity breeds fantasy edges to exploit. With Nico Collins on IR, Houston pass catchers have to somehow replace the workload of their premier wideout. Dalton Schultz was seemingly the odd man out but now has the chance to re-establish himself as a top-tier tight end.
He’s consistently getting more looks but has yet to translate that into high-yardage outputs. Schultz has yet to score a touchdown this season, which offers a reachable ceiling. Even if Joe Mixon ($6,900) plays, he’ll likely be used in a limited capacity, and the rushing game will be put on the back burner.
New England offers little defensively, which opens the door for Schultz to have an effective afternoon.
