It has been a messy stretch for Romeo Doubs. The third-year pass catcher was suspended last week for conduct detrimental to the team after missing a meeting. Reports indicate this had to do with Doubs’ frustrations with his role in the offense.
Perhaps most concerning and confusing, this suspension occurred while Christian Watson was injured with an ankle issue — which should theoretically help Doubs’ outlook on the field.
Regardless, Doubs is back from suspension and will be playing Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals. While he still has a chance to get back on the right track for the season, keep Doubs out of your Week 6 fantasy football lineups.
Romeo Doubs Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook
Through the four weeks he has played, Romeo Doubs has tallied 12 receptions on 20 targets. He has produced 169 receiving yards, but has yet to make it in the end zone. Doubs has not tallied more than 62 receiving yards in a game yet this season.
Green Bay has a widespread passing attack. Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson can each be the leading receiver on any given week, and tight end Tucker Kraft also is heavily in the mix. This significant number of notable pass catchers is equally advantageous to the Packers and frustrating to fantasy football owners.
For Doubs specifically, his production is very touchdown-dependent. Looking at his career as a whole, 28.9% of his fantasy points have come from touchdown receptions. He has logged just one game in his career with more than 80 receiving yards in his three seasons in the NFL.
If you are looking for a reason for optimism, the Cardinals’ defense has struggled this year. Overall they rank 27th in points allowed and 25th in yards allowed. They also are allowing a 78.4% completion percentage to perimeter wide receivers, which is the worst rate in the NFL. Doubs provided over 40% of Green Bay’s perimeter receptions over the first four weeks of the season and if he can center his frustrations correctly, he could add to this number this week.
It is not time to fully give up on Romeo Doubs for the season. But there are better options available in Week 6 unless you are in a pinch. Give it some more time for the Packers’ receiving hierarchy to figure itself out and keep Doubs on the bench for now.
