Week 6 of the NFL season has arrived, and the fantasy quarterback landscape has taken quite the turn. Lamar Jackson and Jayden Daniels currently reign supreme, but who will stand out this week?
Let’s break down my Week 6 start ’em, sit ’em fantasy football quarterback picks.
Start ‘Em: Daniel Jones (Giants) vs. Bengals
Don’t look now, but Daniel Jones is playing… competent football?!
Jokes aside, Jones has actually vastly exceeded expectations through five weeks. The 27-year-old has managed to score at least 18 fantasy points in three of his last four games, boasting a 6:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio over that span. Danny Dimes is coming off his best game of the year against Seattle in which he threw for two scores without Malik Nabers, adding 38 yards of his own on the ground.
This week, he draws a very favorable matchup against the Bengals, who allow the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks per game. I expect Jones to stay hot, especially if Nabers returns to action.
Sit ‘Em: Josh Allen (Bills) at Jets
The concept of benching Josh Allen, perennial MVP candidate and one of the most talented players in the game, sounds absurd. I realize that.
However, if you have another solid option at the position, I would seriously consider it. Allen was unbelievable in Weeks 1 and 3, racking up 30 fantasy points in each contest. In the rest of his outings, he’s been extremely underwhelming, failing to eclipse the 15-point mark. After finishing fourth among passing yard leaders last season, Allen has dropped all the way down to No. 22 through five weeks in 2024. With no true elite receiving threat at his disposal, it’s been a challenge for the superstar to move the ball.
This Monday, he’s set to face a stout Jets defense that has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Not only is this an incredibly tough matchup, but Allen is also pretty banged up after Buffalo’s loss to Houston. As wild as it seems, leaving him on your bench is probably the right call this week.

Start ‘Em: Kirk Cousins (Falcons) at Panthers
There’s the Kirk Cousins we — well, some of us — know and love.
After an extremely underwhelming start to his Falcons tenure, Cousins exploded last Thursday night against the Bucs. The veteran scored 35.4 fantasy points with a whopping 509 passing yards and four touchdowns. Cousins was QB7 in points per game last year before tearing his achilles, and this was truly the first time he looked like the “old” Kirk under center.
I needed to see that before trusting him in my starting lineup, and now that I have, I’m quite confident in Cousins this week against a poor Panthers secondary. With the offensive weapons at his disposal — including one who will show up later in this article — he should keep the positive momentum rolling.
Sit ‘Em: Brock Purdy (49ers) at Seahawks — THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
It’s been a struggle for San Francisco without Christian McCaffrey.
While Purdy has actually thrown the fourth-most passing yards in the league up to this point, it hasn’t translated to consistent fantasy production. The 24-year-old has scored more than 16 fantasy points just once, and a lot of that can be chalked up to his lack of touchdowns. It’s worth noting that Purdy took a step in the right direction regarding his rapport with top receiver Brandon Aiyuk last Sunday, but coming off a short week it’s hard to trust the former Mr. Irrelevant.
The Seahawks only allow 183 passing yards per game and have limited opposing QBs from a fantasy perspective. I expect those trends to continue on Thursday.
