Robert Saleh has been fired as the head coach of the New York Jets. Former defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been named as the interim head coach, but who are the real candidates for the job in the long term?

Ben Johnson (+300)
Johnson has been the offensive coordinator for the Lions since 2022. The Lions’ offense has been one of the best in the league since that year and Johnson should be the Jets’ number-one choice for the job next summer. The Lions are currently third in the NFL in total offense, while the Jets sit at 27th. His offensive expertise is long overdue in New York, with the team settling for bad offensive displays for the last 10-15 years. Johnson has been with Detroit since 2019 and has molded them from a laughing stock of the league into a legit Super Bowl contender. The Jets need an offensive mind like Johnson in the building, ASAP.
Jeff Ulbrich (+500)
As the interim coach, Ulbrich definitely has a shot at this job. If the team can improve and make a playoff appearance, I wouldn’t be shocked if he got the job. Ulbrich is another defensive coach, so the offensive problems could continue to be a pain in his side. If the Jets can somehow save this season, I wouldn’t be shocked if owner Woody Johnson handed him the keys to the franchise. Ulbrich has been a great defensive coordinator and is well-respected in the Jets locker room. However, will this lead to progress on offense? That remains to be seen.
