Tyler Lockett ($5,400)
If you are a fan of flashy and physically gifted receivers with a sprinkle of arrogance, Tyler Lockett isn’t your guy. A model of consistency and professionalism, even in his tenth year in the Pacific Northwest, the 32-year-old is a wizard after the catch. As I’ve mentioned in a previous values piece, he’s clearly lost a step. Don’t equate aging with the ability to get open because Lockett is still a technical route runner who can create ample separation.
He’s coming off three contests with six or more targets and has re-established himself as Geno Smith’s ($9,200) security valve. Even with his refusal to take large hits, Lockett still navigates the middle of the field with elite precision.
Despite always having a nose for the end zone, Lockett has only found paydirt once in his last 13 games. Against a familiar foe at a critical juncture in the young campaign, I think the savvy vet corals a touchdown and has a vintage performance.
Jauan Jennings ($4,000)
A few weeks after an 11-catch, 175-yard outing, Jauan Jennings is back to being buried on the depth chart. His unreal stat line would’ve been nearly impossible to replicate, but it should’ve given the young slot receiver more consistent opportunities. He’s not refined in and out of his breaks, but he’s a big target who can snatch the rock out of the sky.
Jennings is still playing 57% of the offensive snaps but has struggled to produce. He’s still getting targets but not converting them to receptions at a high enough clip. It’s evident when watching him play that he has a great rapport with Brock Purdy ($9,400). The latter loves tossing Jennings the occasional fifty-fifty ball and always seems to peak his way downfield.
The former Tennesee Vol offers a higher ceiling than his assigned salary and is worth inserting into your lineup.
Zach Charbonnet ($3,400)
Stuck behind one of the league’s premier backs, Zach Charbonnet is a talented bruiser in his own right. The second-year pro is a monster between the tackles and requires multiple defenders to bring him down. He’s not a home run hitter—the longest run of his NFL career is 23 yards. Charbonnet can wear out a front seven and is a bully in the red zone, bursting through contact.
Despite a clear cap on his volume, the 23-year-old still garners looks near the goal line and is a pylon vulture. If he can punch one in, his DFS relevance skyrockets. At just $3,000, Charbonnet is the best bang for your buck and offers a serviceable floor.
