Mooney ($5,300) put on a show this past Thursday night vs. the Buccaneers, catching nine of his 16 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Tampa Bay, resulting in a career-best 36.4 FPTS.
Mooney’s 16 targets led the Falcons and matched his career high. Additionally, this was the first time in his career that he has scored multiple touchdowns in a game.
After Mooney inked a three-year, $39 million deal to join Atlanta this offseason, it was expected the former Bear would see a large role with the Falcons this season and that has been exactly the case. Mooney is leading the Falcons in routes and he has seen a 23.9% target share this season, which is just behind Drake London ($6,700) for the highest for the Falcons.
Mooney has seen two redzone targets and he has been Kirk Cousins’ ($6,200) primary weapon when going deep, with Mooney ranking eighth in the NFL in targets over 20 yards (nine) and seventh in air yards (506).
The 26-year-old is averaging a career-best 13.8 yards per reception and Mooney gets a prime matchup in Week 6, going against the Panthers, who are yielding the second-most yards per pass (7.8) and second-most touchdowns to receivers (eight). The Falcons are a -122 favorite on the DraftKings Sportsbook to score over 26.5 points vs. Carolina and Mooney’s excellent season should continue in this spot. For both season-long formats and DFS, the receiver is a great start for Week 6.
