Matthew Boyd, Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers ($7,800) — Revenge is a dish best-served cold. In all fairness, the Tigers treated Boyd well. They gave him a second chance — a one-year $10 million contract in 2023 after parting ways in 2021 — and the often-injured southpaw got injured again. It may not be revenge for Boyd but it’s the biggest game of his career. The pressure might not be intense because this is a great spot for Boyd. He posted a 2.72 ERA in eight starts with a 10.4 K/9 — the Tigers strikeout at a rate of 25% vs. left-handed pitching.

Carlos Rodon, New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals ($7,500) — The teams remaining can hit. They are playoff teams. They win because they can score runs. Picking an MLB DFS pitcher on a two-game DraftKings slate is a challenge. The best matchup for a pitcher on this slate is Rodon vs. the Royals. Kansas City has a .136 ISO, .291 wOBA and 84 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season.
INFIELD

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers ($6,200) — This is the post-season. Good matchups do not exist. Tarik Skubal is a Cy Young favorite. He was avoidable during regular-season slates. That’s not the case today. This matchup is a battle of wills. Ramirez has 21 plate appearances against Skubal. He has nine hits for a .429 AVG and 1.121 OPS.

Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees ($6,100) — Carlos Rodon is in a decent spot but there are landmines in the Kansas City lineup. Rodon allows 1.8 HR/9 to right-handed batters and is pitching in a hitter-friendly park. Witt has a .359 wOBA and 132 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers.

Gleyber Torres, New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals ($4,200) — Saturday’s slugger seeks to snatch the second game of the series. Torres went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in Game 1. He has a .190 ISO, .353 wOBA and 132 wRC+ vs. left-handed pitching.

Salvador Perez, Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees ($4,100) — Long live BvP! Perez has owned Carlos Rodon over his career. In 26 plate appearances, Perez has 12 hits three home runs and nine RBIs (.462 AVG and 1.328 OPS).
OUTFIELD
Stud
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals ($6,500) — The Judge was a must-pick on regular slates all season. There was little to think about with full-player pools. With only four teams in action, no thought is necessary. No writeup is needed for the likely AL MVP with 58 home runs and 144 RBIs.

Juan Soto, New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals ($6,000) — There’s a big split between the Yankees outfielders and the rest of the field. Speaking of splits, Soto doesn’t have them. The left-handed hitter hits lefties and his home numbers at the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium are the same as his road stats. He just hits. If location and handedness do not matter, then playoff games should be the same as regular season games.

Jhonkensy Noel, Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers ($3,500) — Ignore his average. Big Christmas has never been a big prospect, but he’s always had big power (.283 ISO at Triple-A in 2024). Much of his power comes against left-handed pitching — .421 ISO, .399 wOBA and 165 wRC+ in 65 plate appearances.

Parker Meadows, Detroit Tigers at Cleveland ($4,100) — The Tigers qualified for the post-season thanks to the emergence of Meadows. The Tigers’ No. 6 Prospect figured out the big leagues quickly. He has a .365 wOBA, .213 ISO and 142 wRC+ since July 1.
