It’s primetime, which means DraftKings has a Monday Night Showdown contest. In this mode, choosing the best captain is critical since they earn 1.5x fantasy points. I’ve narrowed down my three favorite players deserving of claiming the crown and leading your squad to victory.

Alvin Kamara ($17,100)
The catalyst of the New Orleans offense, Alvin Kamara, is must-see television with the rock in his hands. Injuries and a lackluster team have diminished the value of the eight-year pro in recent years, but the club’s faith in him has never wavered. In four games, Kamara already has 97 touches for a whopping 536 yards from scrimmage.
Since 2020, the rushing ability that drew comparisons to Christian McCaffrey has gone sideways, with three consecutive campaigns averaging 4 yards per carry or worse. His work between the tackles in 2024 has improved dramatically despite not flexing the home run ability that initially made him so special.
Kamara’s elite receiving work gives him a viable fantasy floor, as he acts as a high-end WR3 out of the backfield. He’s also a touchdown vulture, finding paydirt six times in the young season. Kamara’s workload is a known commodity in a matchup swirling with uncertainty on both sides. His weekly chance of putting up video game numbers puts him as the overwhelming captain frontrunner.
Travis Kelce ($12,900)
Are you ready for it? Travis Kelce is back to being relevant to fantasy.
After being exiled from the Kansas City game script across the first three contests, Rashee Rice’s injury left a blank space for Kelce to reinsert himself in one of the game’s most prolific offenses. It was all champagne problems for the 35-year-old, who has already etched his face into the NFL’s tight end Mt. Rushmore. It was a delicate situation because even while undefeated, this group looked like a far cry from the reigning two-time Super Bowl champions, but when Andy Reid called his number, Kelce delivered.
After just eight catches during his rutt, the veteran corralled seven of his nine targets for 89 yards last week in Los Angeles. Without his top two receivers on the outside, Patrick Mahomes ($16,500) has to throw the ball to someone. Kelce can no longer coast until the playoffs—his signal caller needs him now. The Saints safeties are horrific in coverage, which the future first-ballot Hall of Famer should easily exploit.
He’s yet to find the endzone, which should only boost his DFS outlook. If you want to swing for the fences, Kelce is a great option to wear the crown.
Kareem Hunt ($11,100)
This might be too bold. Admittedly, I tried to go off the board and find a player with a sneaky chance to go off. I landed on the old bell cow, Kareem Hunt, who is due for enough volume to make things interesting.
In his second stint in red and gold, Hunt has a fraction of the talent remaining that propelled him to lead the league in rushing as a rookie. With pass-catching options wildly limited, the ground game has to get going if this attack wants to get out of first gear. Despite essentially not having an off-season, Hunt tallied 16 touches in his first game as the starter. If that opportunity stays constant, he is someone to monitor and thrust into your lineup.
