The Week 5 NFL slate has a lot of exciting games as the season continues to ramp up. Here are my favorite bets for these games at DraftKings Sportsbook.
NFL Week 5 Best Bets
Bengals ML (+114) vs. Ravens
The Bengals finally got on the board with their first win of the season last week. Their offense has really found a rhythm and they now rank 4th in the NFL in offensive EPA/play this season. They should be able to move the ball on the Ravens and get points on the board. There is a lot of familiarity between these two teams so Bengals DC Lou Anarumo knows how to contain Lamar Jackson better than most defensive coaches across the league. The Bengals are desperate for a win in this spot and should be able to get it done at home.
Patriots ML (-108) vs. Dolphins
Both of these offenses have a lot of issues. The Patriots are 28th in EPA/play and the Dolphins are dead last in the NFL at 32nd. The Dolphins look completely lost at the moment on both sides of the ball. The Titans managed to pick them apart with the run game and short pass game. The Patriots should be able to have some offensive success in this game with Jacoby Brissett making smart throws and using both of their running backs. The Patriots have had a brutally tough schedule so far this season and their defense is better than the metrics show. They should be able to handle Tyler Huntley with ease.
Panthers +4 vs. Bears
The Panthers’ offense is dramatically better with Andy Dalton at the helm. The Panthers had the worst offense by a wide margin through the first two weeks of the season by basically every metric. After making a quarterback change, they have been 8th in the NFL in EPA/play over the past two weeks. This team should have a decent amount of success moving the ball as they have the past two weeks and defensively they should be able to hold up against the Bears, who are still figuring things out offensively.
Jaguars -3 vs. Colts
The Jaguars are the only 0-4 team left in the NFL. This is their chance to finally pick up a victory in a matchup that has treated them really well in recent history. The Jaguars have won nine straight home games against the Colts. The Colts have some issues on both sides of the ball that the Jaguars can take advantage of. The Jaguars’ offense finally looked like a solid unit last week against the Texans and this matchup will be much easier for their defense, especially with Jonathan Taylor out for the Colts.
Broncos -3 vs. Raiders
The Broncos defense is playing like one of the best defenses in the league at the moment. Over the past two weeks, they have the best defense in the NFL by EPA/play, and on the season as a whole, they are the third-best defense by EPA/play. They should be able to shut down this Raiders offense that will be without Zamir White and Davante Adams. The Broncos can get pressure on Gardner Minshew which is when he starts to make mistakes. Bo Nix isn’t being asked to do much but he is managing this offense well using his legs and the short passing game to move the ball. The Broncos have a much better defense and home-field advantage, so they should pick up a win here.
