The Steelers host the Cowboys in a great Sunday Night Football matchup. Here is how to bet on the game at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Steelers (-2.5) vs. Cowboys o/u 44
Steelers Team Breakdown
The Steelers have had a strong start to the season but did lose to the Colts last week to drop to 3-1. The identity of this Steelers team could not be more clear. They have one of the best defenses in the league, sixth in defensive EPA/play, and a below-average offense. Justin Fields has done a decent job of avoiding turnovers and George Pickens is having a breakout season at wide receiver. They have managed to do just enough to win some games, but the defense leads the way for this team. Their opponents’ points totals were 10, 6 and 10 in their three wins. When the Colts scored 27 points, they couldn’t keep up and suffered their first loss.
Cowboys Team Breakdown
The Cowboys have had an up-and-down start to the season. They dominated the Browns in Week 1, which looks less impressive after watching the Browns’ offense the next few games. They then lost back-to-back games to the Saints and Ravens before bouncing back with a Thursday Night Football win over the Giants last week. The Cowboys have not been impressive on either side of the ball so far this season. Their defense ranks 23rd in EPA/play and their offense ranks 20th in EPA/play.
The Cowboys have been unable to establish any rushing identity, ranking last in the NFL in rush yards per game. Outside of CeeDee Lamb, no receivers have stepped up and they will be without their no. two receiver, Brandin Cooks, for this game. Dak Prescott will likely feed Jake Ferguson a heavy dose of targets in this game as the second option to Lamb.
Pick and Prediction
This should be a tight low-scoring game. The Steelers’ elite pass rush should be able to get after Dak Prescott and the Cowboys won’t be able to run the ball at all. The Steelers’ defense will be able to put all of their focus on CeeDee Lamb to try to stop him from taking over the game. That should open up an opportunity for Jake Ferguson to be the easy outlet and quick target for Dak Prescott. Ferguson had seven catches against the Giants last week and six catches against the Ravens the week before. So, I am betting on Ferguson to go over his receptions prop against the Steelers.
Best Bet: Jake Ferguson o4.5 catches (-135)
