Jordan Whittington is 6-foot-1, 204 pounds and played his college ball at Texas. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He’s an older prospect at 24 years old and runs the 40 in 4.52 seconds while possessing an 86th percentile agility score.
He generated buzz during offseason workouts then got busy in the preseason.
Once the regular season started, though, he only played two snaps in Week 1, but saw the playing time increase due to the Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp injuries. He played 26 (50%) and 22 snaps (38%) the next two weeks, garnering two and three targets.
In Week 4, he led the team with 59 snaps (97%) and eight targets, converting those into six catches for 62 yards. He also received one red zone look.
Tutu Atwell is the deep threat for the Rams while Whittington works the belly of defenses. He has two receptions behind the line of scrimmage and 10 of his 11 receptions have been within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Atwell has a higher ceiling but Whittington is more than viable in PPR formats, since he should be on the field most of the time and get peppered with the high-quality targets.
Week 5’s game against the Green Bay Packers has a total of 48.5 points, with the Packers favored by three points on the road. Points will be scored, especially since the Rams boast one of the most porous defenses in the league. As a result, Matthew Stafford will likely have to drop back a ton and be aggressive to keep up. The game environment should be one in which Whittington could thrive with death by a thousand paper cuts.
