Is Jayden Reed the No. 1 WR in Week 5 if Romeo Doubs is ruled out?

The Packers head to Los Angeles to take on the Rams in Week 5, and it sets up to be a smash spot for Jayden Reed ($6,500). Reed was already going to be in a great spot with Jordan Love ($6,500) back at full strength and Christian Watson ($4,800; ankle) expected to be out. However, he got an even further boost on Friday afternoon when Romeo Doubs ($5,400; personal) was listed as doubtful.

Reed has had two monster games with Love at QB, posting 36.1 fantasy points in Week 1 and 30.1 fantasy points last week against the Vikings. Even with two weeks of a run-heavy Malik Willis ($5,300) offense, Reed is the No. 2 WR in the NFL so far this season, behind only Nico Collins ($7,700). Collins is in a tough matchup against a Bills’ secondary that has held WRs to the second-fewest fantasy points this season, while Reed is in a great matchup with all the work he can handle coming his way.

Ja’Marr Chase ($8,000) was my No. 1 WR in my rankings earlier this week, but I’d jump Reed all the way to the top of the list based on how this week has played out for him and the other WRs near the top of my rankings.

The Rams rank in the top 10 for most fantasy points allowed to WR, allowing a wideout touchdown each week this season. Just two weeks ago, the injury-depleted 49ers got three touchdowns from Jauan Jennings against the Rams. In their first four games this season, opposing receivers are averaging 148 yards per game against Los Angeles.

While Dontayvion Wicks ($5,000) and Tucker Kraft ($3,500) are great value plays if Doubs and Watson are both out, Reed brings the most upside. He has the ability to make a big play any time he touches the ball and coach Matt LaFleur has been great about getting him opportunities in space.

In his two starts, Love has an astronomical 88 pass attempts. While some of that was due to game script, it shows the Packers aren’t afraid to throw the ball around the yard. With limited reliable options, a huge part of those looks will likely go Reed’s direction this week.

The Rams have used a single-high safety the seventh-most in the NFL, and Reed has feasted against single-high looks, with his yards per route run jumping to 5.56 in that situation. The Rams have also allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per target to slot receivers this season, setting Reed up for a monster game.

Getting him at $6,500 is a steal in DFS contests like the NFL $3.25M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. He has the 13th-highest salary at the position, but I think he’ll be right among the leaders based on his opportunities against the Rams.

The Packers are three-point road favorites on Sunday and Reed is -115 to score a touchdown. If you really think he’ll go off, you can get him at +550 to score 2+ touchdowns.
