Word came out on Friday that Jonathan Taylor would miss Week 5 against the Jaguars due to an ankle sprain. With the Colts now utilizing a running back committee, I think this will open up a lot for their receivers. Thus, I’m liking Michael Pittman Jr to score a touchdown at +225.

The Jaguars have been horrendous. They’re 0-4, have one of the worst defenses in the league and can’t move the ball down field. Opposing receivers have averaged over 12.6 yards per reception and scored four times against this secondary. We’re not even sure who’ll be under center for the Colts this week and I’m still confident that Pittman Jr can find the end zone for the first time this season. Quite honestly, I’m hoping it’ll be Joe Flacco this week over Anthony Richardson, who is nursing an oblique injury.
Despite not scoring yet, Pittman Jr leads the Colts receivers with four red zone targets. The Colts offense to this point have taken a run heavy approach in the red zone, with Taylor and Richardson combining for 23 rush attempts. However, with no Taylor and potentially no Richardson, this could change their red zone approach dramatically. Trey Sermon is expected to be the RB1 but he’s been extremely inefficient in his limited carries. This would lead me to believe, especially with Flacco, that they’ll be throwing in the end zone. With so much uncertainty on offense this week, I think this adds a much needed boost to Pittman grabbing his first touchdown of the season.
