Bijan Robinson ($9,800 for Showdown) has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but doesn’t carry an injury designation for Thursday’s matchup vs. the Buccaneers. Still, there is a chance the back is limited, which would lead to more work for Tyler Allgeier ($4,800).
Just last week, Robinson was nursing a shoulder injury heading into their Week 4 matchup vs. the Saints. Like this week, the former Texas Longhorn avoided the injury report last Sunday, but Robinson ended up setting season-lows in carries (11) and snap share (64%) in the victory over New Orleans.
As a result, Allgeier finished with 10 FPTS, while logging 38% of the snaps, both of which were season-highs for the back. Overall, Allgeier handled 53% of the running back carries, compared to 46.7% for Robinson. Allgeier also caught both of his targets.
Only four days removed from this contest, there is a strong chance that Allgeier and Robinson handle similar workloads as rushers Thursday and this is plus spot, with Tampa Bay allowing the fifth-most yards per carry (5.0).
While it may be tough to hear for Robinson fantasy owners, Allgeier has been a far more effective rusher this season, averaging a career-best 6.1 yards per carry, compared to only 4.1 for Robinson. This very well could be a result of the 22-year-old not being fully healthy and not over working Robinson right now is simply the logical move for the Falcons.
Especially with Atlanta as a two-point home favorite over the Buccaneers on the DraftKings Sportsbook, Allgeier should garner double-digit touches Thursday and is a viable flex starter for season-long leagues. At a very reasonable $4,800, Allgeier is also a terrific value for Thursday’s Showdown slate on DraftKings.
