Chase Brown ($5,600) went off for a season-best 23.2 FPTS last week vs. the Panthers, all thanks to a larger role. Brown was clearly behind Zack Moss ($6,000) for the first three weeks of the season, but things changed this past Sunday. The two Bengals’ backs each saw 15 carries in their win over Carolina, and Brown notably saw three red zone carries compared to only one for Moss.
Prior to this, Moss had seen 62% of the running back carries for Cincinnati, compared to only 37.7% for Brown. Furthermore, Moss had out carried Brown 12-4 in the redzone.
Brown has been a far more efficient rusher than Moss this season, averaging 6.3 yards per carry, compared to only 3.9 for Moss, and the Bengals’ coaching staff has clearly decided that Brown needs more work going forward.
Brown has earned himself at least double-digit carries in Week 5, but the issue is he is facing a Ravens’ defense that is giving up the fewest rushing yards per carry in the NFL (3.0). That being said, Baltimore has still yielded three rushing touchdowns to running backs this season and this game is one of the best environments of Week 5, with a 49-point total and tight spread of 2.5-points on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Brown ranks seventh among all running backs in FPTS per snap this season (0.56) and he is worth starting in most season long formats. Additionally, Brown is an appealing contrarian target for DFS, as most fantasy players will disregard him because of his opponent.
