Irving is coming off his best showing of the season, finishing with 12.5 FPTS in last Sunday’s win over the Eagles, marking his second straight effort of double-digit FPTS. Irving has been more effective than his backfield mate Rachaad White this season, and the Buccaneers’ coaching staff has certainly noticed. In last week’s win over Philadelphia, Irving and White both saw 10 carries each. Irving notably saw five redzone rushes, while White didn’t see one. In the previous three games, White had out carried Irving 31-25 overall and 5-1 in the redzone.
With Tampa Bay running away with a 17-point win over the Eagles with Irving playing his largest role of the season – he logged a season-high 42% of the snaps – Irving should continue to see a sizable workload for the Buccaneers’ Week 5 matchup vs. the Falcons this Thursday. Irving is averaging a strong 5.8 yards per carry and 0.41 FPTS per snap this season. The massive opportunity discrepancy between the rookie and White in the redzone last week was very telling. If this continues, Irving has a strong chance to find the paydirt vs. Atlanta.
Irving rookie is an intriguing bet to score a touchdown at +140 on the DraftKings Sportsbook and is a viable flex play for Week 5 for most season-long formats.
