The Bills will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they travel to Houston in Week 5. Not only did get run over by Derrick Henry ($7,800) in their loss to the Ravens on Sunday night, but they also lost Khalil Shakir, who didn’t leave that game but was ruled out for Week 5 on Friday with an ankle injury. Shakir has been the Bills’ No. 1 receiver, so without him, rookie receiver Keon Coleman ($4,700) would be in a place to step up.
Shakir has been solid with over 50 yards and at least four catches in each of the last three games. He has also scored a pair of touchdowns while averaging 13.3 fantasy points per game. His 19% target share and 230 receiving yards lead the team.
With Shakir ruled out, Coleman could get enough work to be a fringe starter in deep leagues. The rookie hauled in 3-of-4 targets for 51 yards against the Ravens, matching his season high. He scored his first NFL touchdown against the Jaguars in Week 3, but only had a single catch.
The Bills spread the ball around, so Shakir’s absence also opens more work for Curtis Samuel ($4,200), Mack Hollins ($3,100) and TE Dalton Kincaid ($5,300). Of the group the only real “must-start” with Shakir out would be Kincaid, while the other three receivers come with lots of risk but high ceilings.
Coleman has a chance of breaking out with Shakir unavailable, but he’s still a fringe start at best against the Texans this week. He has the potential to go off for a big game, but there are most likely better options available on the waiver wire.
