The Texans are expected to get WR Tank Dell ($5,400) back in the lineup after he missed last week with a chest/ribs injury. He was back on the field for practice on Wednesday, as you can see in the video below, but should he be in your Week 5 fantasy lineups? Let’s take a look.
Dell had his best game of the season in Week 3 when he hauled in five catches for 62 yards and a season-high 11.2 fantasy points. He also drew seven targets in Week 1 against the Colts but only converted three into catches for 40 yards. Week 2 was even more disappointing for the second-year receiver, as he hauled in just 1-of-4 targets for -3 yards.
Last year, Dell emerged as a deep threat for C.J. Stroud ($7,200) and the Texans, hauling in 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns before going down with an injury. This season, Dell has struggled to make as much of an impact with Nico Collins ($7,700) and Stefon Diggs ($6,900) getting most of the WR looks from Stroud. Collins has been the best WR in fantasy football and Diggs has gotten at least six targets in every game.
This week, Diggs will be in a revenge game against the Bills, who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. It’s a tough matchup and there may just not be enough work to go around to make Dell an option.
His speed and ability to go deep will always give him a high ceiling since just one long-distance connection will give him a big week. However, at this point, he’s very tough to start based on his workload and matchup. There are probably better options available to you despite Diggs’ boom-or-bust upside. For DFS, he’s also still too expensive to be a good home-run play.
In their Week 5 matchup against the Bills, the Texans are one-point home underdogs, but player markets have not been set yet since players’ availability is still uncertain.
