Bijan Robinson ($9,800 Showdown) was dealing with a shoulder injury last week. Now, the back is dealing with a hamstring injury that resulted in him being limited in practice Monday. While Robinson didn’t carry an injury designation for last Sunday’s game vs. the Saints, the former Texas Longhorn recorded only 11 touches and logged 64% of the snaps, both of which are season lows for Robinson.
Naturally, Tyler Allgeier ($4,800) took on his largest role of the season, rushing eight times for 60 yards and catching both of his targets for 20 yards, all while logging a season-high 38% of the snaps. This resulted in 10.0 FPTS for the back.
With Robinson now nursing a hamstring injury and the Falcons in the midst of a short week, with their next game Thursday vs. Buccaneers, there is a chance Atlanta elects to give Robinson the week off to heal. That would make Allgeier a legitimate RB1 for Week 5. This season, the back is averaging a career-best 6.1 yards per carry. Even if Robinson is active, he more than likely will be limited to some capacity, resulting in a solid workload for Allgeier and making him a viable starter for all leagues.
Not only does the 24-year-old have value for Week 5, but Allgeier is one of the top handcuffs in the entire league and is a player that needs to be rostered in all formats.
All in all, if Allgeier is currently available in your league, he is well worth using your waiver priority on and if your league uses FAAB, using a decent chunk of your budget to acquire the back is the right move.
